LESSON OPTIONS AND FORMAT

What to Expect if You Sign Up

I have availability during the outdoor season on Saturday, Sunday, and some weeknights late afternoons and evenings. My coaching philosophy guides my lesson structure. Each players bio-mechanic makeup is taken into consideration as I develop your individual plan. Each lesson will be built around a theme with the goal of perfecting one aspect of your game, while having the opportunity to exercise all of your strokes in the warm-up and game sections of the lesson. The lesson structure is as follows:

1.) Dynamic warm-up incorporates agility, balance, and coordination exercises to appropriately warm-up the body in order to prevent injury

2.) Racquet skills warm-up in half-court are cooperative drills designed to get you hitting the ball on the sweet spot and set the tone of consistency for the day.

3.) Observation period where we play to assess what we want to work on that day.

4.) Skill development takes on a specific element of your game to master with progressions such as drills as simple as tossing and catching to simplify complex mechanics, to ball feeding, and controlled rallying. My method always works its way to live ball hitting as skills are assembled.

5.) Games, often with scoring, are used to solidify the skills developed and test where we need further improvement. If anything needs more practice, I follow a closed-open-closed model where we are constantly developing skills in a closed environment such as feeding, and then opening the lesson back up to test your skills in a game setting. The goal is always to simulate matchplay and be successful in that setting.

7.) Serving / Returning warm-up

8.) Matchplay, often I use limitations on matchplay such as the server only gets one serve for more experienced players, or the server gets three serves for beginners. Each lesson is fine-tuned for your ability and personality. We may spend more time in the skill development portion if you are a beginner, and more time in the game and matchplay portion if you are an experienced player.
