What an opportunity to watch the seasons change
From a slowed down version of the same beautiful place
New vantage points
With more time to find and gaze upon them
What an opportunity to reach out to the familiar and unfamiliar
Not only friends, but activities too, left dormant in the wake of necessity
Not as much is required of you now
So require more of yourself
What an opportunity to make an impression on another
To find love where you least expected it
To grow a relationship in the wake of a deficit
To forgive all the mistakes we made rushing on to what’s next
What an opportunity to reach the brink of a precipice
Stand up to the death-stroke of a pandemic
Join hands with all of humankind from a safe distance
See the world in a way you never knew existed
What an opportunity to put your heart on the table
To dive deeper than you thought you could take it
To overcome this thing just for the sake of making it
To get there even if you have to fake it
What an opportunity to dive deep within something else
Sleep deeply without worry for yourself
Be at peace that our short term sacrifice
Will keep the vulnerable alive and well
I see people connecting on another level
Now we have the time to tell each other all we wanted to tell
As our carbon imprint dissipates from outer space
And The Squares of Time frozen in place
I see young artists paint chalk masterpieces on the street
For their neighbors and friends they otherwise would never meet
I hear words being born for the world to see
From poets who otherwise seem to have little need
What an opportunity to find meaning
Hidden deep within your very own feelings
Who knew the soul still had such a hold on our being
And, if you listen, you can hear His voice where there is peace
